Community groups provide culturally appropriate health education to address health behaviors in culturally appropriate ways.

We partner U.S. and Ugandan students, starting in high school, to partner on the creation of social innovations that improve income, school attendance, and community problems. This photo shows an example in the form of a communal kitchen.

Safe Accessible Fair and Empowered (SAFE) Communities
SAFE Community Foundation
(formerly Safe Mothers, Safe Babies)

SAFE Motherhood
Our SAFE Motherhood initiatives focus on promoting maternal and perinatal health and survival. We specifically focus on improving the Three Delays that collectively lead to poor health outcomes, and we prioritize innovative, community-based solutions.

SAFE Education
Our SAFE Eudcation initiatives include both support for individual students to attend school, along with social innovation and entrepreneurship support and training. We specifically seek to ensure that promising young people have sustainable support to continue, finish, and utilize high-quality education for public service.

SAFE Surgery
Our SAFE Surgery initiatives seek to improve access to, and quality of, surgical care for the communities we serve. We achieve this through improving emergency transportation systems and care, improving the availability of surgical equipment and supplies, strengthening surgical training, and partnering U.S. and Ugandan surgeons.
